News broadcaster n-tv has secured the rights for live transmission of the Formula 1 Free Practice sessions - with Nick commenting on whatever is going to happen on the respective race courses. He will start his new job this coming Friday already by commenting on the Free Practice sessions preceding the Grand Prix of Bahrain.
Apart from live transmission of the Free Practice sessions the highlights of the following racing weekend will be summarized and shown once more in n-tv’s Saturday and Sunday special sports feature starting on 18:05 hours.
“We are very happy indeed to be involved in Formula 1 racing, as this is ideally corresponds with our main target group which is extremely interested in motor sports”, n-tv’s editor in chief comments on the development. “Live transmission of Free Practice also supplements the Formula 1 programme offered by RTL, our associate tv transmitter. Moreover this new feature extends the range of our present broadcasting of motor-sport events which among others includes live reporting on Formula 3 racing.”
Nick Heidfeld comments: “Together with all motor-sport fans I am pleased to once more watch Friday’s Practice sessions on n-tv. In view of the test limitations imposed, Friday’s training gains special importance. Based on my long-standing experience in Formula 1 racing I hope to be able to provide a lot of interesting facts and insights. German drivers, German engines, and the German Mercedes team play an eminent role in the present set-up - never before formula 1 racing was more exciting and more balanced than today.”
