Good news for all German Nick Heidfeld fans: just a few days from now they will be able to watch once more the racing qualities of the long-standing formula-1 pilot during a race in Germany. On the 28th of this month he will be at the controls of a GEMBALLA RACING team’s McLaren MP3-12C GT3, taking part in the third race of the VLN long-distance Cup. If Nick should be satisfied with the performance of the car, he will also be at the start during the fortieth jubilee race on the “Nordschleife” of the Nürburgring from May 17th to 20th.
Nick’s contract with GEMBALLA RACING runs parallel to his engagement in the WEC with REBELLION RACING which includes the Spa 6-Hour race as well as the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
“Taking part in the Nürburgring 24-Hours this year will realize a long-held wish, as far as I am concerned”, Nick said. “During this first VLN race already I will be at the controls of that impressive McLaren MP4-12C GT3 and will be sharing activities with my F3 team mate Sascha Bert of earlier days. Moreover, at GEMBALLA RACING I have joined a strong team with Klaus Ludwig and Hendrik Vieth which not only ought to harmonize well but also should engender the necessary craving to fight for the leading positions.”
